Acupressure/Wellness Massage

What is the theory behind acupressure?

This concept is based on Chinese teachings about human health and illnesses. Proof of this method reaches all the way back to the Tang dynasty (618-907 A.D.). It is a manual bodywork therapy. Traditional chinese medicine describes special acupressure points that lie along the meridians or channels in our body. These are the same energy meridians and acupoints as those targeted with acupuncture. The life force Qi flows through these invisible channels. There are 12 major meridians that connect the network of specific organs. They organize a system of conjunction, nourishment and communication throughout our body. Illness can occur when the meridians are blocked or out of balance.

It works on three different levels in the body:

Firstly, a special massage and gripping techniques are used (e.g. grippingly pinching, tapping, rubbing, pulling), thus releasing skin and muscle reflexes. It incorporates both mobilization and stretch techniques for joints and muscles.

On a second level, the massage is used for the restoration of the body’s energetic balance. Morbid external factors which have entered the body, such as overheating, dryness, cold, moisture and wind, will be channeled out by the intervention.

Thirdly, emotions such as anger, greed, pondering, fear, worry, grief and fright (inner disturbance factors) store up inside our bodies during the course of our lives. They paralyze the distribution of energy in the pathways of the body. Even though this occurrence is invisible, it has a visible effect. The massage eventually channels out this overload and accumulation of energy and converts them. The body is worked on in a meditative atmosphere and opens the gates to the inner self.

Through this, negative stress factors can be removed, mobilizing the functioning system of the body in its entirety.

Each body requires an individual massage plan. This takes place after anamnesis and agreement. We will target blockages from head to toe, taking your medical diagnosis into consideration (where provided).
